Infants with Heart Defects

There are currently 1 in 85 infants with heart defects being born. Many people do not know about them. There is hardly any awareness is for infants with heart defects. This means many soon-to-be mommies do not know about the danger of these defects. Hardly any doctor tells them about the odds of giving birth to infants with heart defects.

I show various examples of these mommies in my book, “Matters of the Heart.” Many mommies were not told about the possibility of having infants with heart defects.

Congenital heart defects are responsible for more deaths in the first year of life than any other birth defects. To me this is mindblowing. There are many defects a child can suffer with, but how can it happen that the worst killer of defects is so ignored by the public? There are so many infants with heart defects all over the world, so why are advocates so badly ignored? We do not have any celebrity who makes their voice heard for infants with heart defects.

We need awareness out there for our future heart children. Research and funding are the key. We have many organizations that try to raise awareness and money for research for infants with heart defects, and I am hoping that I will be able to do my part in saving infants with heart defects in the future.

Become aware of infants with heart defects by reading Matters of the Heart.
