Pediatric Heart Surgery

Children aren’t simply little people who experience the same diseases adults do but on a smaller scale. Rather, they have their own health afflictions and problems. Diagnosing and treating heart defects in children requires specialized knowledge, and most importantly a dedicated heart to care. In my book, “Matters of the Heart,” there are many little ones who have to have pediatric heart surgery. Some of them were only a couple weeks old.

Chloe was a newborn who had to have pediatric heart surgery when she was only days old. Unfortunately she became an angel afterwards.

Sometimes an adult who has a heart defect that began in childhood may be treated by a pediatric surgeon. Many wonder why he has to have pediatric heart surgery when he is old enough to be treated as a grown up. This is because the hospital and doctor are more experienced in treating defects that begin in childhood than a standard adult facility.

Most of the babies in “Matters of the Heart” had to have pediatric heart surgery, but there were some who were older. Some were even on their teenage years.

Most of them do not remember their pediatric heart surgery any more but have heard many tales about it by their families.

All of them praise and bless the surgeon who performed their pediatric heart surgery and they keep in touch forever.
